Third, progress monitoring: because the same scale runs from the early primary years through senior school, a student’s movement from, say, 450L to 620L over an academic year gives a concrete, comparable data point, something a letter grade alone can’t offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital platforms can tag their entire catalogue with Lexile measures automatically, adjust recommendations for each student in real time, and flag when a child’s assigned reading has drifted too far above or below their current band, something a physical library, sorted alphabetically by author, simply can’t do at scale.
