Being a parent is hard work. You are responsible for another human being and it is your job to make sure that they are happy, healthy, and safe. It is a lot of pressure, but luckily there are a few things that you can do to make your job as a parent a little bit easier. Here are the top 10 parenting tips straight from the experts:<\/p>\n\n\n

1) Establish rules and stick to them<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Children feel secure when they know what the expectations are. If you are consistent with your rules and the consequences for breaking them, your children will learn to follow them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Be present<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Make sure to put away your phone and give your undivided attention when your children want to talk to you. This also goes for when you are spending time together as a family. Be in the moment and enjoy each other\u2019s company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Let them make mistakes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It is natural for children to want to explore and experiment. Let them make mistakes and
learn from them. This will teach them how to problem-solve and be independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Encourage their interests<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Nurturing your child\u2019s interests will help them develop<\/a> a lifelong love for learning. If you
show them that you are interested in what they are interested in, and they will be more likely to
open up to you about what is going on in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5) Teach them empathy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Empathy is an important skill<\/a> that will help your child throughout their life. Teach them how
to put themselves in other people\u2019s shoes and understand how their actions might affect
others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6) Be a good role model<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Your children are watching everything you do, so it is important to set a good example for
them. If you want them to be honest, kind, hardworking, etc., then you need to show them
those qualities in yourself first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7) Give them autonomy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As much as we want to protect our children from making bad decisions, we have to let them make some decisions for themselves. Trust that you have taught them well and let them choose their own path occasionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8) Praise their efforts, not their results<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Praise their hard work and effort instead of just praising their results or intelligence. Children need encouragement so that they continue making progress even when faced with setbacks. Teaching a child that only winning matters can lead them to develop negative feelings such as low self-esteem when they don’t live up to their own standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9) Encourage outdoor play<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Make sure your child gets plenty of outdoor playtimes every day<\/a>. Not only is it great exercise, but it also helps reduce stress and anxiety. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for them to explore their surroundings and use their imaginations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10) Read together every day<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Reading together is a great way to bond with your child while also encouraging their love of learning. Start reading together as early as possible and make it part of your daily routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
